I've been talking with local small-medium size business owners here in the Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach areas of Orange County. Turns out the statistic that 34% of businesses still don't have a website up is quite accurate.
What is even more true is how many of them have websites up which are dreadful from any kind of an internet marketing perspective. No SEO, no Search Engine Optimization, no Social Media Marketing, no dominating Google page one, no long tail words. No nada nothing.
Now the thing is, some business owners were sold a bill of goods by some web design company and they have a website. And they know it's not doing anything for their business. But they're embarrassed to talk about their perceived failure when after all their great skill set and specialty is their business, not the marketing of it.
