As a Dating Expert who has both lived in a few different metro regions (New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles/The OC and Las Vegas) as well as worked with singles in a number of different cities both within the United States as well as around the world, one of the considerations a number of singles have is they want to meet, date, and mate with another single in their local area.

Yes, you will see on some of the online dating niche sites, like those which are faith based for Muslims, Christian or Jewish Singles, is that the single will often make some statement like, “Distance is no object.” They think the are open to loving and partnering up with another single from any where in the country.
And in a manner, they are open like that. They are open to love coming to them from just about anywhere.
And then reality kicks in.
In order to really fall in love, to attract your Soul Mate and build a relationship, you actually need to open up and share each others lives together. Courtship which leads to marriage requires that you share your lives and actually BE with each other. So much of the dating style of the “Single – Never Married” folks is to either “hang” on the sofa and watch movies, while fun, eventually becomes boring, or to go do the consumer single dating style of going “out” all the time. Neither of these models is actually what we DO in the normal LIFE of a married couple/life partner relationship. When I coach singles who are divorced or widowed and we get to that part of my coaching system, they say, “OMG, April, you are brilliant! This is so true!” (I heard this today from one widowed lady.) And they can see how I approach relationship attraction and building form reality and not from some pipe dream which will never happen.
Real relationships are between human beings. There are some crass metaphors for describing this which I will refrain from using to illustrate my point.
When you are looking to attract love and build a life partner relationship, generally speaking, to do so you need to be in person. In order to experience that, this means you want to date another single who is local to you or at least in your metro area region. That can still mean that they live a few hours away from you. However, unless you travel to certain metro areas repeatedly for business, you want to keep your targets on another single who lives within a few hours of you, and not thousands miles away, which would be just fooling yourself.
Then you actually have a chance of attracting, meeting, and mating with your Soul Mate and developing the kind of lifelong love relationship which you are craving.
Happy Dating and Relationships,

I met Las Vegas Hypnotist, Ken Owens, via Kevin Hogan 2 years ago. He is an excellent public speaker for Non Profits on their Communication Skills as well an entertaining hypnotist for corporate events. Part of what is so neat about Ken's approach, is he undergirds the entertainment factor with science and research about The Brain and how it functions. So his hypnosis CDs work in positive ways with how your mind thinks rather than running counter to it. Recently I acquired one of his CDs, am finding it so effective and helpful that I am now contemplating which of his CDs to get next. Check out his site. He is excellent. And also offers a free monthly newsletter with helpful tips.
Until then,
Happy Dating and Relationships!

In between, I am not taking any new dates and am packing lots of boxes and jettisoning STUFF!
On the romantic sex singles dating sphere, that is an excellent metaphor for all of us: jettison STUFF to make room for a new girlfriend or boyfriend.
How many bags and boxes can YOU donate to Goodwill?

Hi. Just a quick note from the life of the Online Dating Coach. I am HERE landed safe and sound in Viva Las Vegas Baby!
I'll be seeing Motivational Speaker, business, education leader, Kevin Hogan, on Sunday. Maybe Saturday, if we play our cards right of course. yes, that was a goofy little reference to his skill and love of playing Black Jack. Learning to play Black Jack is on my list of look to consider learning to play it, not an imperative for 2009. With learning to play it, like practicing safe sex and PLAY SAFE with romantic sex relationship dating, I want to learn how to BEFOREHAND so I am not losing thousands of dollars while in the RANK NOVICE stage of things.
So I observe others first.
Will catch up with my team work here either over the weekend or MONDAY while at the airports.
All the best,

Tonight a gaggle of us went to see Wayne Brady's show here in Las Vegas.
Not only is he hysterically funny BUT...
he is SINGLE.... again.
Apparently he is divorced.
I know, actually, and an online dating expert and relationship coach, I do encounter those who were OH so happily married only a few years ago.... and NOW? are divorced. C'est la vie.
Now if only I had been sitting in the front $170 ticket section I could have waved or SOMETHING where he could have seen me. As he is SO attractive. (handsome, fine, oh, um, LOVELY physique, damned talent and hard working, all characteristics I admire in a man. a girl can dream, can't she?
I just figured I better BLOG about it in case this post should cross his PR agent's radar screen and give me an opportunity to MEET him. Ken Owens might need to chaperone, of course.
Here at Fred's we've been practicing all these IMPROVE techniques for improving our public speaking and presentation skills. So NATURALLY of all the Las Vegas we would go see....? WAYNE BRADY.
OK, so today was a complete commercial interruption, digression.
thanks for bearing with me!
All the best,

PS: I know, I know. No photos of me with Wayne Brady on a date.... YET! ;)
thought I'd better include my pix for his PR agent. I mean he MIGHT not be attracted to vivacious curvy blonde women....
Well, after having met Fred Gleeck at Motivational Speaker, Business, Education Kevin Hogan's fabulous Wealth Camp last week, I am traveling to Northern NJ tomorrow. Or, as we who are FROM there can say, "Scenic fill in the blank NJ town." In this case, Scenic Saddlebrook.
So, I will be spending LOTS of time in airports in the next few days.
and will be slow to get to your blogs, but will catch up MONDAY PDT afternoon at the latest....
well. AIRPORT FLIRTING
what FUN
Now, my good buddy, Scott Bell, aka The Road Warrior - Scott A. Bell (please update your website to reflect THAT website of his) could tell me everything about airport travel.
which airports have the best connectivity etc, free wifi that is really free
Both Las Vegas and San Jose had truly FREE wifi that also worked well
well, while I am hangin at the airports, my first step in being ready for good AIRPORT FLIRTING is in
selecting a cute AND comfy for air travel outfit
I will even wear SKIRTS in order to LOOK more fabulous
and indeed, my skirts are pretty comfy, too.
and then
Make Up
now the funny thing and the joke about actually WEARING make up while doing air travel is it won't last more than a few hours (foundation) because of how we sweat with the dry air blowing.
So, put a compact to powder your nose and stow breath mints in your purse.
Now, one of my favorite places to flirt is at an airport bar.
best to sit on a stool sort of In the Middle
that way the men (oh, did I mention I'm always positioning myself next to at least ONE man? mhm.. more fun that way, n'est pas. that was for Success and Life Coaching Expert, UK Yann Vernier, whom some of you met in Vegas)
Now, I am dressed in a cute/sexy way and am sitting next to them. I'm blonde and the curves ARE in the right places, smile, make eye contact (that's the Reading Body Language Expert part of the equation), smile, sip drink. Before you know, the man will say SOMETHING to me. Why? because I'm flirting with him. Body Flirting with him. That is FEMININE/Yin flirting where we are visually displaying our availability and responsiveness to him and engaging his eyes.
Man in Yang energy will SPEAK first. then we respond. Doesn't matter WHAT we say does it? "Oh really? Where are you headed? Are you going for business or for pleasure?" then, yes, close mouth (yes, I do practice that one....) and LISTEN. Smile. Look. Smile. "Mmmmm. Really?"
Meanwhile my Body Language Flirting is going on. I'm doing feminine curvilinear postures, not masculine/straight on, squared shoulders authority postures.
Insert batting of eyelashes....
and then I'm off to my flight
but in the meantime?
I did AIRPORT FLIRTING and practiced and communicated the sexy compliment that I found him attractive as a man without actually needing to DO anything more.
fabulous
go forth and BODY FLIRT!
All the best,
April Braswell

What is essential in your expert coaching work?
What are some of the TOOLS of your trade that you require for your work?
That you would be LOST without?
Well, besides strong coffee.. after that...
You might imagine that when I work with clients that I do - in person, via email, workbooks....
and naturally what else?
THE PHONE
My phone bill hit the roof this past month I was on it so much.
Sonya
Matt
you KNOW who you are.
Oh, and while we are at it....
My phone itself is DYING. The little back light? GONZO. I have to hold it up to the window and PRAY the sunlight hits it JUST RIGHT (like finding the G spot, well, which is really a REGION, not a spot).
Dying Egypt dying.
And here I am.. heading to Vegas. Where I will meet lots of NEW ppl. Want to be reachable while I am there - hey I'm at the bar, over here...
So, I bought a new phone, new plan.
And it won't make anything but LOCAL calls.
The phone itself is just glitchy.
So, what's worse than a giraffe with a sore throat?
than a telesales person with laryngitis?
a Dating Coach with NO PHONE!

Hi. Back from Las Vegas. Loved hearing all about how delightfully blissfully happy one of my Romance Coaching success stories, Sonya Lenzo, is.
Fitnesss Trainer for the Rest of Us, Easy Weight Loss for the Obese maven herself, Sabrina Peterson joined Sonya and me as roomies. It was a TON of fun that way. We even watched a Luau from our balcony window. Sonya took pix, so I'm sure we'll see them here soon.
Now, as a Romance Coach with a subniche expertise (I am SO good at this, that people literally have begged me to teach them HOW and WHAT am I doing.) in Online Dating Coaching, I am always looking around for restaurants which are good for dates. All kinds of dates. Indeed, collecting restaurants is one of my Dating Advise and Tips tidbits which I recommend both to women clients and men clients. Having some choices for To Where to go on all those Romantic Dates and Internet Dating dates that you go on helps.
Something I am always looking for are places that combine physical comfort, good food, and with pleasing ambiance. Now, I want different THINGS in pleasing ambiance.
Sometimes what I LOVE is to feel secluded and cozy. The Elite Cafe in San Francisco's Pac Hghts district used to feature amazing seafood with these fabulous booths which had nearly 4 walls surrounding you. It was VERY intimate and created an atmosphere where you could really FOCUS your attention on each other rather than be visually distracted by others. But sadly they changed menus and the great seafood is gone for now.
In Las Vegas, The Cafe at The Bellagio featured what I had been craving (and now I know of it) for Saturday morning brunch. Openness, good food at reasonable-for-Las-Vegas prices, sun light, greenery. I had lunch there Sunday with Sonya and discovered it. I will DEFINITELY be returning!
Sabrina introduced me to Roy's off strip. VERY good food. Good ambiance. Pleasing, music was not hyper distracting. No pulsating lights. Rob Northrup, Corporate Veil expert also seems to favor such restaurants with his choice of Fix (was that it's name?) for Sunday evening with his lovely wife Dixie. Part of what was so fabulous about Sabrina's selection of Roy's off strip was it wasn't PACKED. Not a great place to MEET other singles as mainly established couples and groups head off strip like that unless it's a great bar/local hang out like I enjoyed with Michelle Matteson last March. Sabrina and I were joined by Copywriting WunderKind, Sheridan Randolph, providing us with Recession Proof Marketing. Then we were stuck waiting for a cab. Only disgruntling aspect to dining off strip. It just happens. We lived with it. Just know when you go for things like that when you go with a date. Plan accordingly and prepare expectations. That's my Product Marketing background displaying as well.
The Victoria Room was where Sabrina and I ate brunch. Despite Las Vegas being known for a place where you can get ANYTHING, I couldn't get french toast, bacon, and eggs as a combination. Ergo, paid some stupidly ridiculous price to get what I wanted. Ihop and Denny's at least understand breakfast combinations and as does The Four Seasons. BTW, I do advocate going to simple breakfast restaurants around the 5th or 6th date. The first few dates, you want to go to NICE restaurants. And while I LOVE The Four Seasons for Brunch (great Eggs Benedict, coffee that isn't served tepid already like at the Victorian Room, and a fabulous Red Snapper. Hmmm, I may have to shanghai my sister and go this weekend if not with my BF.....), I also LOVE iHop, Denny's and Stacks.
Part of what is desired if you are looking for a long term romantic relationship, is to seek out and test the waters with a potential life partner to see What Would Normal Life Be Like?
Men are making The Pitch initially for Hey Baby, I can offer you THIS Lifestyle. Hence, the nice restaurants etc. And yet, we are NOT going to eat like that all the time, or we'll all gain too much weight, and how will the laundry get done? And the women are displaying, I am SO worth catching, a challenge to catch, but indeed, YOU can catch me. With a bit (not a TON) of effort. Life, laundry, and eating out. Indeed, the Old Money Rich are quite frugal. I grew up in Princeton, prepped with them, and went to Smith with more of the nouveau riche who tell you their father's salaries in opening sentences which I had always found gauche. So, I observed the Old Money Rich. Old station wagons. 5 acres yards. Small but LOVELY houses. And perfectly happy with the local restaurant with good food. So, you want to test for SOME frugal habits in each other. We may do mani/pedis and go to Joseph Cozza Salon for our hair (for which you ARE grateful). But do we have to have the most expensive of everything we consume?
I'm even happy with breakfast, burgers and coffee from McDonald's. Just DO take me to NICE restaurants, the Symphony and the Opera SOMETIMES.
I know Peter Helton is Making your Skin Beautiful without plastic surgery and will point out to me the excessive grease in McD's FF which will clog my skin. But I'm not advocating eating there ALL the time. Just citing it as a way in which I am down-to-earth. Now my good buddy Sales Training Public Speaker, Steve Chambers, and his lovely lady Trisha, enjoy a variety of eatz as well. I'll be interested to hear what Steve thinks of this blog post.
Where do you like to eat when you travel? I bet the Road Warrior Scott Bell has quite a collection to share!
Where do you like to eat locally for dates? Perhaps Single Man, John Wadsworth, will share some Twin Cities Secrets with us! Energy Man, Matt Shields, can share both local and those from his travels.
All the best,
April Braswell
Your Romance Coach, Online Dating Coach
I'm SUCH a relationship building woman. Ergo I live and breath networking. It was something Kevin Hogan - Internationally Renowned Motivational Speaker noticed about me even during Boot Camp 2007 in Viva Las Vegas, Baby!
So naturally, with networking and relationship building... I gaggle. I gaggle my friends. I gaggle my girlfriends. I am KNOWN for this. In the business world, these are the characteristics of a Market Maker and Mover & Shaker (or M&S as some of us joke).
Innnnnterestingly enough, there is RESEARCH (I can just see Dr. Kevin Hogan, Leading Reading Body Language Expert smiling to read that I have leveraged empirical research!), about characteristics of Women Who Get Married. This is included in the quality book, "Why Men Marry Some Women and not Others." It's a good short read and has some helpful information. Others are meatier, but they are researchers, so the tone is different than some other dating books.
So, this RESEARCH... one of the characteristics is that women who get married have a group of other single girlfriends who are actively looking for a marriage relationship.
Well, I already did this. Indeed, I also vary the AGE of my gaggle. We joke about it. If the men we meet are late 40s and into their 50s, send them to April! OK, the minute they see her, they're already moving in that sparkling pink direction.... magnetically drawn. It's the Power of Pink Sparklies!
30s? J, T, maybe R. Late 30s, early 40s, R.
We get together about once a month for a Girlz Nite OUT! We do this on Thursday night so that our married lady friends can join us without problems with children or dear husband. Although, if they need a Baby SItter, Nanny, or Child Care, they could Ask Lisa.
And for us Single Gals, Thursday night doesn't interfere with Date Nigtz of Friday and Saturday evening.
We mix it up.
We mix up the VENUE! And when we started to get in rut of always somewhere downtown Palo Alto.... we shifted and went to downtown San Carlos one month (Town in downtown SC). We also rotate who PICKS the venue. We will TRY NEW THINGS. (you're impressed, I can tell already even before I post.). We will try a new venue, have even helped a fund raiser (The Princess Project - helping all girls be a princess for their prom who couldn't otherwise afford to go) by meeting there to start and adding friends who wouldn't have attended and contributed otherwise. We tried the venue for an hour or so, didn't really care for it, and shifted to one of our favorites. But we DID give it a try for more than an hour.
BTW, I donated a beautiful sparkley Rhinestone tiara. Naturally. And I hope the girl who wore it indeed felt that evening, "I AM a PRINCESS!" And she'd have been right.
So, least you feel I'm at it with my Romance Coach, Online Dating Coach clients on a daily basis with a whip and a chair (or whips and chains, whatever, your choice, I'm very accepting....) about these ACTIONS, here is one that is SO EASY. This is SUCH an Easy Dating Tips bit. "Go out for drinks with your girlfriends once a month.... Vary the bar. OK, if you must... and Have Fun.
Yeah, that's your TOUGH homework for the Thursday.
Go Have Fun and share it with others to magnify it.
We use Evite for org'g the invitation list, citing venue (address), and it automatically sends out reminders. Cool, huh? Yup, I DO live in the land of Web 2.0. As a Networking and Relationship MAVEN, I was a natural for all the Social Networking sites.
Have fun! I'll take a Belvedere Cosmopolitan (yes, I AM part of the SITC generation.) or a Pomegranate Margarita (discovered at Andale on University. YUM!) please! Thanks!
Cheers!
