Yes, I finally bought my OWN replacement connecting cable for my Canon digital camera. aka Thingie, umbilical cord
I figured I will be taking LOTS and LOTS of pix here in Las Vegas in the next few days and will need to have my OWN Canon digital camera umbilical cord.
Now, I KNEW that Radio Shack would LIKELY have such a generic device if anyone would have one.
However, we were closer to Best Buy and went there first.
The employees were having a great time talking with each other and not to me. One of the few times when being a hot sexy gorgeous woman was NOT beneficial. Clearly the 26 year old dudes were more comfortable talking with each other. I just stood and waited, and one did finally help me. He and the other girl were really quite helpful once I got their attention.
Best Buy wanted to sell me this do it all burp your baby device for 1/3 the price of the camera. Which she then told me also didn't really work very well. Tried to sell me something different.
No thank you.
Went to Radio Shack.
Walked in.
RIGHT away the salesperson offers to help me. I showed him my camera. Explained what I wanted.

It's amazing how bad service can get in large stores (although I've an article coming out in the next day or so reporting on a small store I visited recently that was hilariously bad).
I think it all goes wrong with the customer service plans these places implement, and with the customer satisfaction surveys they use to try and gauge their performance.
If you want to know what your customer service is like, discreetly place yourself in one of your stores and watch the next fifty customer-staff interactions that take place. If you've a brain you'll learn far more than a customer satisfaction survey would ever reveal.

Nice post. "7 minutes to satisfaction"...that has a nice ring to it. That is a phrase Best Buy should hammer into their employees brains. My experiences with Best Buy's customer service have not been good. I give them an "F" on customer sat. They are horrific.
