Now you do not have to do a TON there, just Have a Presence. I find I get a regular flow of interested parties from the Social Networking sites.

I know I am on someone's link at linkedin -- haven't got much further than accepting the invite. I need to find that on my messy desk. Facebook: I thought it was for university students. Will look into them when I get a chance ... file for future use.

One thing I have noticed in the past three months on Facebook is that it has enabled me to locate four old friends from long ago-- two I found and two found me. (These were one high school friend and three college/IBM friends)
If you can find anyone from your past, there is a chance that they have already made friends with some of your old friends as well.
I have never tried the Classmates route, but that has worked to find old friends for some people I know.
